Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) is misunderstood by most who have never been involved with it and by many who have. It seems negative, mysterious, and complicated to those that misunderstand it. Of those who have never been involved with it and misunderstood it, many of these knew somebody or knew OF somebody who was involved and did poorly. Of those who WERE involved with it and misunderstood it, many of these represented the Lion’s share of the ones who did poorly.
I mean, it is easy to misunderstand, right? You’ve got to be a genius to do well with it. Think about it. Every one gets its leaders into intensive training which include (typically speaking) weekly meetings, weekend training events, books, CD’s, DVD’s, Power Point’s, seminars, webinars, Regional and National multi-day training events, Mentoring/Field Training, 3-Way Calls, Conference calls and video training.
Wow, I’m exhausted just thinking about it. I have definitely experienced all of the above and more many times over! So there’s SOOO MUCH to know in order to succeed in MLM. Or is there? What separates MLM from traditional Marketing is the fact that it includes multiple levels of people marketing with and for you. As an individual marketer, you have an individual personality and a specific back ground, mindset, skill set, motivation and sales approach/style. How you do What you do may work great for YOU because of who you are. Will that same approach/style, mindset, skill set and motivation work for everyone else that you meet? For ANYONE else that you meet? Maybe…maybe not.
The beauty and “genius” of MLM is to learn to keep it as SIMPLE and duplicatible as possible. I find it valuable to ask myself the question, “What would my MLM business look like if 100 or 1,000 people in my business were doing or saying the same thing that I wish to do or say?” The result is typically tremendously positive or tremendously negative. I have found that you will teach by example (like it or not). People will do what you DO not what you SAY. I have also found that all that needs to be taught is how to serve that best, grow the most and work the hardest.
So like they say,”Sometimes Less is More.” Less words are necessary because our actions are speaking loud and clear. Less “teaching” is necessary when we are properly “leading”. In Multi-Level Marketing it is when we take our eyes OFF of ourselves and put them on the needs, desires and lives of our ‘downline’ associates that we begin to soar. So again, LESS obsessing over our OWN situation will equal MORE sincerity in you, therefore MORE loyalty, therefore MORE commitment, therefore MORE results from your ‘downline’ therefore MORE profit and success for everyone.
